A guide to LingoReader

Bring a book. Take useful words with you.

Practical steps for bringing your own reading into LingoReader and reviewing the vocabulary you save.

Import an EPUB or MOBI

  1. Sign in and open your Library.
  2. Use the Add menu to choose a book file. Select a DRM-free EPUB or MOBI you have permission to use.
  3. Wait for the import to finish, then open the book. You can read immediately; a vocabulary check is optional.

Book uploads have a 50 MB file limit, and your account’s book and cloud storage allowances also apply. LingoReader does not remove DRM. A purchase from a bookstore may need to be read in that store’s own app rather than imported here.

If a file cannot be imported, check that it opens as an EPUB or MOBI and is DRM-free. A different supported edition may work. Find free Spanish EPUB sources or choose a title from the collection.

Save an article or paste text

  1. Open Add in your Library and choose an article link or pasted text.
  2. For a link, use a public article URL. For pasted text, include the passage you want to read.
  3. Save the article and open it from your Library.

Saved articles are private text snapshots, rather than a live copy of the website. Pages needing a login or JavaScript may not import; paste permitted text instead. Images and embedded media from the original webpage are not included.

Prepare to read offline

While online, download the books and saved articles you want to read. Check that the content opens on the same device before disconnecting. A cloud copy alone is not an offline download, and removing browser storage can remove local copies.

Downloaded content is readable offline. New definitions, translations, vocabulary checks and AI preparation need an internet connection. Online assistance being unavailable does not stop ordinary reading. Reconnect when you want new help or to sync your progress.

Export flashcards to Anki or a spreadsheet

  1. Open a flashcard deck and select the cards you want to export.
  2. Choose Export, then Anki or Spreadsheet. Use the preview to check the content; advanced options let you choose fields and their order.
  3. Download the file or copy its contents. Anki format produces a tab-separated TSV file; spreadsheet format produces CSV.

Import the TSV into Anki and map its columns to the fields in your chosen note type. If you choose a cloze field, use a compatible cloze note type. Open CSV in your spreadsheet application using UTF-8 and a comma separator.

This is a file export, not automatic Anki synchronization. It does not transfer LingoReader review schedules. You can also stay in LingoReader and use its built-in spaced repetition without exporting anything.

Need a hand?

Email contact@lingoreaderapp.com with the step that failed, your device and browser, and the error message. Please do not send passwords or a whole private book. See beta pricing and limits if an import or AI action is unavailable.
